The election cycle of 2008 is in the very beginnings so as Americans I think we need to have a debate about the role that our government should hold in our country .
Is it going to be what our founders envisioned or are we going to head further down the road to the corrupt system of socialism.
I think our founding fathers and mothers would be appalled at what they see in America today.
" The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction is the first and only legitimate object of good government ." Thomas Jefferson
" The object and practice of liberty lies in the limitations of government ." General Douglas MacArthur
" The God who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time .The hand of force may destroy but cannot disjoin them." Thomas Jefferson
Our founders believed that government was for the protection of its citizens from enemies at home and abroad and that as individuals we were free to live our live without interference as long as we didn't harm our neighbors. We have gone a long way down the road of big government that intrudes on every aspect of our lives .
So I would like to hear your ideas on what our government should look like and what we could do to get our country back to what our founders had in mind . If you think we are living like our founders envisioned I welcome your thoughts also .
" We demand entire freedom of action and then expect the government in some miraculous ways to save us from the consequences of our own acts ,,self government means self reliance." Calvin Coolidge
"Were the talents and virtues which Heaven has bestowed on men given merely to make them more obedient drudges to be sacrificed to the follies and ambitions of a few." Thomas Jefferson
" Already the hour is late government has laid its hand on health ,housing ,farming ,industry, commerce, education and to an ever increasing degree interferes with the peoples right to know .We approach the point of no return where government becomes so huge and entrenched that we fear the consequences of upheaval and just go along with it ." Ronald Reagan
Let us have a discussion
